About Meadow Funeral Directors
When Meadow Funeral Directors was established and its doors were opened, it marked a meaningful moment. However, it's worth noting that the opening wasn't the first time these doors had been opened for such a purpose. Back on September 28th, 1988, The Chapel of Rest had its inaugural opening ceremony, presided over by The Worshipful Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Martin Wareing J.P. At that time, the chapel was blessed and dedicated, under the ownership of Vernon Shipley and Family. They were known as Vernon Shipley Funeral Directors, operating as an Independent Funeral provider.
Subsequently, there was a change in ownership as the Co-operative Funeral Care acquired the establishment, transitioning it into a corporately owned entity. Following a relocation by the Co-op, the building stood unused for several years. This is where Meadow Funeral Directors stepped in. We saw the potential and decided to breathe new life into the space, bringing it back to its roots as an Independent, Family-run Funeral Company. Our range of services spans from cost-effective options like Direct Cremation to comprehensive Pre-Paid Funeral Plans, covering everything in between. We take pride in revitalizing the space and carrying on the tradition of providing compassionate and personal funeral services to the community.
